Terrible Fortune in Poker

For a game where the majority of gamblers occasionally consider luck, there are lots of superstitions in poker. When you say that a player was fortunate in that poker tournament they captured, be careful of how you mention it. For example, if you mention that you were unlucky, your fortune may never change.

Ok, that may sound a bit ubsurd, but poker is a game loaded with superstitions. Did you realize that if you’re betting a game with two seperate decks and you’re asked to pick the deck, you should always pick the deck that is furthest from you? Or, what If you get a run of poor cards, you need to hang out on a hankerchief to destroy your horrible luck? It’s certainly considered good fortune to blow through a pack of cards while they’re being shuffled.

A few other fascinating poker folklores are:

  • You can change the run of cards by going around your chair three times.
  • The most beneficial position at the poker table looks at the door.
  • The worst seat has its rear to a fireplace.
  • When altering chairs, you need to always do so clockwise.
  • The most detrimental poker card is the four of clubs.
  • It’s most unlucky to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.
  • Fri is a bad day for gambling on cards.
  • The 13th is also a horrible day, regardless of when it falls during the week.
