Do you ever obtain that itch? The itch to gamble, to head to the closest gambling establishment, to come across a high stakes game of Texas hold’em, to sit at a Pontoon table for hours on end. I really like that itch. And I really like to scratch it.
I also love to watch individuals wager. No two poker faces seem alike. When I bet I like to feel I put on a poker face which is impenetrable. But I know I have specific gestures. For one, the only time I smoke is when I wager on poker or Pontoon. And then I chain smoke. Except I smoke no matter if I am succeeding or losing, whether or not I’ve a very good hand or bad.
I once played in a weekly poker game. The game was often five card draw. There was a person who bet with us just about every week who often wore a hat. When he was given a great hand, subconsciously, he would begin touching and betting with his hat. Needless to say, he by no means won.
The very best poker gambler I ever saw was a player who manufactured much more actions and signals at a poker table than anybody I had ever seen. He was flawless in the way he dressed. Often an expensive suit and tie, footwear shined and nails manicured. He was meticulous in this manner. And he was usually brushing his pants or holding his hands or putting his chips in tidy little piles.
I use to analyze him for hours. I’d tried to see if I could notice his tell. Picking fuzz off his vest- did this mean he was bluffing? Arranging his chips within a short pile – did this mean he had a very good hand?
Many years later I ran into him in a very bar in Philly and we had a beer. I asked him if he had been aware of all those activities he manufactured or if they have been subconscious. He informed me that every individual thing he did at a poker table was deliberate. He said that everybody is often checking out everybody else’s poker face. They are attempting to detect the the tell.
So his technique was to give them lots to believe about. His thinking was if they were thinking about him choosing a piece of lint off his shirt and what it meant they positive were not pondering about their cards.
His process was diversion. And it worked for him. By no means give up a system that functions for you.
