No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
