Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors anywhere in the world. While competing in internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best poker players in the world might be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in cash games?
