NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
